Intergenerational Project – Latest Update (July ’10)

The project, which was conceived in 2009 and became public in January 2010 is evolving quickly.  The initial idea has changed and we are now running a successful project in Somerset that is gathering pace.

Presently the site is located on another website, but can be accessed through http://www.postcardsofyourpast.co.uk/

The whole project is more inclusive than ever before.  We recognised that this type of project only excited those with a desire to understand more about computers.  Now the project does not address the need for its participants to use computers at all.  As the trainer and presenter I have now contracted with all our participants to design the postcards myself, under their instruction.  We are now running an opening presentation that details the benefits of the project and delivers to everyone our aims and objectives.  We have adopted a more simplistic approach and as a result we have bookings for sessions between now and December.  The project has been accepted throughout Somerset and we are already seeing some of the benefits of this new format.

Currently we have sessions every week at various locations, but we are happy to include more providing we have a good size target audience.  Our aim of delivering to over 50s in the county of Somerset has seen an increase in our target due to our drive and commitment to it’s participants.

If you would like to know more please feel free to drop me a line and I will be happy to talk to you.  If you would like to book a session and have at least a dozen people over 50 prepared to spend some time with us, then please send me an email or contact ViSTA in Langport, Somerset (t: 08453 580372, w: http://www.vistaproject.org.uk/ ).
